Early Life and Education
Adams was born on 5 November 1959 in Kingston, Ontario, Canada and is the son of Captain Conrad J. Adams and Elizabeth Jane (née Watson). Both his parents are British and immigrated to Canada in the 1950’s from Plymouth, England. Adams’ father, who earlier served in the British Army, joined the Canadian Army after moving to Canada. He was also named Canada’s United Nations peacekeeping observer and thus made the Canadian Foreign Service diplomat.
Due to the nature of his father’s job, Adams travelled to various diplomatic posting across the world in countries like Portugal (where he joined the American International School of Lisbon), Vienna and Austria in the 1960’s and Israel in the 1970’s. Adams has one sibling, an older brother named Bruce.
Although Adams released his first album in 1980, he did not find world-wide recognition until the release of his third album, in 1983 titles ‘Cuts Like a Knife’ which became his break-through album and featured the hit single “Straight from the Heart”, which was listed in the top 10 songs by ‘Billboard hot 100’ chart and placed at number 8 on the list of ‘Billboard 200’.
In 1984, he released ‘Reckless’ featuring the now classic ‘Summer of 69’, and other hit singles like ‘It’s only Love’, ‘Run to You’, ‘Somebody’ and ‘One Night Love Affair’ and ‘Heaven’ which were again named on Billboard 100 and 200 lists. ‘Waking Up The Neighbours’ was his next album which became a global sensation, with ‘(Everything I Do) I Do It for You’ topping musical charts in countries world-wide. The song was placed on the number one slot in UK, for 16 consecutive weeks, a world record.
During 1992-99, Adams went on Live Concerts world-wide and produced the hit albums ’18 Till I Die’ and ‘On a Day Like Today’. In the post 2000 era, Adams produced albums like ‘Room Service’, ‘11’, and Live albums ‘Live at the Budokan’, ‘Bare Bones’ and ‘Live in Lisbon’.

Adams’ dated Cecilie Thomsen, a Danish Model during the 1990’s. After spliting up with her, he entered into a relationship with Alicia Grimaldi, who served as a co-founder and trustee of The Bryan Adams Foundation and the couple tied the knot soon. Together, they have two children, daughters Mirabella Bunny Adams and Lula Rosylea Adams. The family has homes in London and Paris.
